Hezbollah drone attack in Israel injures nearly 40 people, 3 seriously: reports


Rescue services in Israel said nearly 40 people were injured, three of them seriously, in a drone attack in Binyamina, Israel, for which the Lebanon-based militant group Hezbollah claimed responsibility, according to the information.

Israeli media reported that two drones were launched from Lebanon, one of which was intercepted.

It was not immediately clear who was injured, military or civilian, or what was hit.

On Thursday, Israel carried out two attacks in Beirut that killed 22 people, and Hezbollah said it was retaliating for the attacks by attacking an Israeli military training camp.

This was the second time in two days that a drone attacked Israel.

Sunday's attack came the same day the United States said it would send a new air defense system to Israel to increase protection against missiles.

“The THAAD battery will augment Israel's integrated air defense system. This action underscores the United States' unwavering commitment to the defense of Israel and to the defense of Americans in Israel from any new ballistic missile attack by Iran. It is part of the broader adjustments. “The U.S. military has done so in recent months to support the defense of Israel and protect Americans from attacks by Iran and Iranian-aligned militias,” the Pentagon said in a statement.

The massive missile barrage launched by Iran on October 1 showed the threat that Iran poses to Israel as a regional power. While debris from hundreds of rockets and missiles fell on Israeli territory, no Israeli deaths were reported.
